Synopsis |
19-year-old Dag comes back to his parents' home in a peaceful village in southern Norway after a spell in the military. His father, Ingemann, runs a small workshop, but even more importantly, he is the chief of the volunteer fire brigade. The son is proud of his father’s work and the father proud to see his son carry on the tradition upon the latter’s return. But more and more fires are ablaze in this small village, and Ingemann and Alma, Dag’s mother, are beginning to suspect the worst of their son. Featuring some of the most incredible scenes of burning buildings ever seen in cinema, Pyromaniac is a nuanced study of a sociopath and the community that shelters him.
From Erik Skjoldbjærg, director of the international sensation Insomnia, comes “[A] chilling, subjective study of psychopathology.” —The Hollywood Reporter |
